Leipzig is considered the most international city in the new federal states. For the second time in just a few years, the New York Times recommends our city as an outstanding travel destination. In the second half of the year, the most important dates will take place in Leipzig during Germany’s EU Council Presidency, including the EU-China summit of heads of state and government and the annual general meeting of the “European City Day” EUROCITIES: Numerous major events, world congresses and world leading trade fairs are in preparation.

What does that mean for Leipzig? How do we want to develop? Where is the journey going to? With 14 town partnerships, numerous town cooperations all over the world, active participation in strategic European networks, cooperation with the Federal Foreign Office, embassies, consulates general, foundations, partners from business, culture, sport and society, the International Cooperation Unit in the Mayor’s division has become an important hub for this diverse commitment. Seven women and one man coordinate and develop these relationships.
